UP or Down? What will the totalisator handle at the Grand National meeting this time? The decline in figures is greatly in evidence just now and that will be troubling the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club more than anybody. In 1925 the total reached £155,818 for the three days and the following year a rise to £169,811 was recorded. The slump hit the club in 1927,. when the total dropped to £156,G1D 10s. and an even more serious decline was shown in 1928 when only £139,853 went through the machine. Last year showed a rise once more and the totalisator staff
handled £158,62G IDs,, but prospects for furiijer rise next week appear
