DISTRICT NURSE REPORT
WORK DURING THE PAST MONTH. The New Plymouth district nurse (Sister Gill 1 ) reports that the past month has been very busy in all branches of the work. Details are: Number of new patients on register, 20; patients discharged, 14; patients remaining, 9; transferred to hospital, 1; number of visits to homes, treatment and advice, 126; inquiries, 128; charitable aid recipients, 22; telephone calls, 119. Clothing was supplied to 12 familes (339 articles). The following gifts were acknowledged by the association: Clothing, Mesdames Reube, T. V. Mackay, Hood, Dinniss, Newman, Honeyfield, A. Collins, Skinner, T. Hartnell, F. Coleman, Armit, Keeling, also per Mrs. Skinner, per Mrs. Matthews, per Mrs. Mankclow and StMary’s hall; matting and floor rug, Mrs. W. Skinner; vegetables, Mrs. Reading; blankets, Mrs. Martin; bread, Mr. Aldic; cigarette cards and books, Erie Coleman ; soup, delicacies, etc., Mesdames Newell, Skinner, E. Humphries, C. McLeod and Clarke. A gift of hats was received from Messrs. C. C. Ward ard
sandwiches and cakes were given by the Caledonian Society. Donations were received from Mrs. F. G. Evans and Miss Hempton. The secretary (Mrs. M. Avery) acknowledged subscriptions and donations from Mesdames Southam, Waterston, McHardy and G. Home. At the recent committee meeting, it was decided to fix September 9 as a tentative date for a bridge evening to be held in aid of District Nurse fund. Votes of thanks were accorded Mrs. Newman for a donation and the needlecraft circle of the Taranaki Women’s Club for the gift of a .dressed doll, with two complete changes of outfits, to be raffled (permission having been obtained) in aid of the District Nurse fund. Arrangements were made to have the doll shown in several shop-windows in the town.
