BREACH OF RIGHT HAND RULE
CASE AFTER MOTOR COLLISION. The hearing of the charge against J. H. A. W. Moody of failing to give way to right hand traffic was concluded before Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., in the New Plymouth Police Court yesterday. The charge arose out of a motor collision between cars driven by D. C. Candish and Moody. The magistrate fined each £2, with costs against Candish £2 Ils and against Moody of 19s. Moody had been coming up a slight rise to Young Street from the sea side, said Mr. C. H. Croker. He was travelling at from 12 to 15 miles an hour and saw the other car approaching at from 30 to 35 miles an hour. He immediately pulled up to give the other room to pass, thus obeying the right hand rule. He had* left Candish half the street in which to go by but Candish was going at a very high speed. The magistrate said he found that Candish’s car was travelling at an excessive speed. Mr. Croker said that under the circumstances Moody had taken all reasonable care.
