SUB-UNION FOOTBALL
TAIN’UI TEAM SELECTED. The following team will represent Tainui against Whangamomona Sub-union at New Plymouth on Saturday:—J. Lake, C. Marshall, C. Hepburn, W. Coulton, R. Old, R. Rattenbury, Tanehaki, S. Roberts (wingforv/ard); R. Lake, A. Purcell, N. Duckworth, C. McNeice, J. Brown, P. Lake, D. Waha. Emergencies: G. Henderson, G. MclVhirter. . . This is the strongest team that Tamm has fielded for a number of years. The forwards, although weighty, are fast and should combine well. The backs if wed fed will give a good account of their prowess, especially the three-quarter line. The opposing side will have its work cut out in checking this trio’s attacking movements. The five-eighths on present form appear to be the weakest link in the team. The inclusion of R. Old, though young and inexperienced in representative football, is more of a try-out. But this lad does some good cutting-in at times. He, like his mate, should remember they have two fast wingers outside of them Ghen a dry day the team should give a good account of itself.
