TRADE WITH THE SOVIET

ITALY SIGNS AN AGREEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright. Roc. 8.30 p.m. London, August 4. Italy and the. Soviet have signed a commercial treaty, according to the Times’ Rome correspondent. The terms have not yet been published, so it is impossible to say whether the document goes beyond the long series of commercial agreements with Germany which were signed recently. The treaty, however, marks the beginning, of more intense economic collaboration between Italy and the Soviet Government. The announcement was followed by a cordial meeting between JJignor Mussolini ..and the Soviet Cdmmisar. Newspapers are of the opinion that- the treaty will enable Italy to purchase more cheaply petrol, coal and other minerals at present imported from distant markets.
