SHIPPING COMPANIES MERGE
Bia TRANSACTIONS IN STATES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7.30 p.m. New York, Aug. 2. The control of the international mercantile marine founded by the late Mr Morgan, with a fleet of 46 vessels with a tonnage of 427,000 tons, has passed to the Roosevelt Steamship Company, Messrs Droit Roosevelt, Basil Harris and John M. Franklin to be vice-presidents of the new company. Mr. P. A, b. Franklin remains president. , The disposal of the international marine foreign tonnage is planned by the new company in order to develop the American service. • It is also reported that the Pennsylvania and Baltimore-Ohio Railroad is interested in the Roosevelt Line, which operates a fleet of 24 motor-ships from Atlantic ports io the Far East.
