BATTLESHIPS WITHDRAWN
TENTATIVE DECISION MADE NAVAL TREATY ANTICIPATED UNITED STATES GESTURE By Telegraph—Prese Assn.-—Copyright. Rec. 6.30 p.m. Washington, Aug. 2. The Navy Department has announced that a tentative decision has been reached calling for the retirement of the battleships °Utah, Florida and Wyoming about November 1 without the necessity of awaiting for the Japan latification of the London Naval Treaty. It is assumed that world conditions are such that no situation could arise, within the next 18 months m which the United States would be handicapped by the lack of these warships, and the niove will save Hie country about £BOO,000. It will also serve as a gesture ot internatio'nal confidence.
