DRAWN GAME AT MASTERTON. NORTH AUCKLAND v. WAIRARAPA. ( . By Telegraph.— Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. In a game which caii be described as one of thrills and disappointments for the partisans of both sides and in ■which the standard of play fluctuated from the poorest possible type to the highest of brilliancy, the North Auckland and Wairarapa representatives, played a drawn game, the score being 19 points each, at Masterton on .Saturday. For. three-quarters of the game the visitors were in tho ascendancy and must be accounted unlucky not to have won. Only on rare occasions did Wairarapa produce its real form. . North Auckland opened at a pace that had Wairarapa badly rattled and the home team was eight points down before it was fully awake to the fact that the game had started. North Auckland had the misfortune to lose McDonald (halfback) through an injury. It i.s more! than probable that but for McDonald's retirement North Auckland would have greatly .increased the half-time score. Following loose play a spectacular passing movement among the visiting backs resulted in the first score, Welly accepting the winger’s pass and scoring well out. Kerr missed with the kick. Good play. by Ryan allowed Wells to time his pass well and Hanson raced over near the corner unopposed. Kerr converted. Wairarapa had a narrow escape when a forward pass spoilt the chance of a try. A good sprint by Fuller put Wairarapa within striking distance and from a serum .Stringfellow was able to cut through and score brilliantly for Fuller to convert. The score remained unchanged at half-time. North [ Auckland 8, Wairarapa 5. | Wairarapa attacked strongly on the resumption and Le Qucsne’s weight carric( him across. No goal resulted and the scores were even. The next score came rather sensationally. With all the Wairarapa backs out of position Barrich had a clear run in at the corner. Kerr’s kick missed. The visitors attacked and Roach (Wairarapa full-back) was tackled in possession. Morrisy only had to pick v.p the ball and score. Kerr converted. Fuller goaled from a free kick from 40 yards out. Donald started a movement under the Wairarapa goal. Just outside his own twenty-five Fuller received, and with a succession of bewildering swerves passed' ail the opposition and finished behind the posts.

Fuller converted and made the scores 16 all. Wairarapa was now playing more like a provincial team. Clever play gave Mill an opening to cross in the corner and jazz past several opponents to touch down behind the posts. Fuller's kick struck the upright and went ■ outside, i Practically on time a final rally by the North Auckland forwards swept the field, M. Pike scoring near the posts. Kerr’s kick failed and the game ended 19 all. i PETONE WELLINGTON CHAMPION. . WELLINGTON B UNDEFEATED. i I Wellington, Last Night.
