Under the new defence regulations the rifle clubs are to be continued, although their concessions are not very numerous. The concessions are as follows: A grant of ammuntion —200 rounds to marksmen, 100 to the others who merely qualify if they fire the musketry course as laid down, but which is not compulsory; a further issue not exceeding 200 rounds per member of the club is supplied at a reduced price. The use of the rifle range is also granted, defence rifle clubs being a unit of the- defence forces of the Dominion. Apart from these concessions there are the grant of free ammuntion to approved district rifle meetings (open to all members, of the defence forces), and a free rail warrant up to 100 miles to attend these meetings. Free rail warrants up to any distance are allowed for the National Rifle Association meeting, but as in the case of district meetings this concession is available for all branches of the defence forces who are competitors.
