FIRE BRIGADE’S REQUEST
SCHEME OF SUPERANNUATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 2. A deputation waited on Mr. W. A. Veitch urging the necessity for the introduction of a scheme which would permit the provision of adequate superannuation al an early age of fire brigadesmen. This, it was stressed, was desirable from tho arduous nature of their calling. It was stated that the Act at the present time provided only for £259 pension, and brigadesmen desired that a contributing scheme be established.
Mr. Veitch, who was representing Mr. P. A. de la Perrelle, said he could not make any premises on behalf of his colleague. He was sure Mr. Perrelle would sympathise with their claims. In Mr. Veitch’s opinion it was only a matter of working out a practical scheme.
