GRANTS TO HIGHWAYS FUND
BREACH OF FAITH ASSERTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At a meeting to-day of representatives of county councils a:id other bodies, the following motion-was carried unanimously: That this representative meeting of local bodies, - private and commercial motorists and other interested parties desires to voice its emphatic protest against the proposal of the Government to discontinue the free grant of £230.000 to the Main Highways Fund, and further considers that the intention to charge interest on past free grants is a serious breach of faith with motorist taxpayers.
