COSTLY ADMINISTRATION
TAX BURDEN EXCESSIVE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. A well-attended and representative meeting in Napier this afternoon passed the following resolution: .In the opinion of this combined meeting of the Napier Chamber of Commerce, Hawke’s Bay sheepowners’ Union and Hawke’s Bay Employers’ Association the cost of administering the country is too high, especially in view of the low prices ruling for primary products, and in our opinion the excessive taxation proposed by the Government will be a further factor in. increasing unemployment. It essential that steps be taken to effect economies in Government expenditure and thus avoid all proposed extra taxation.
The meeting further expressed the opinion that a combined meeting of the Employers’ Federation and affiliated bodies, the Sheepowners’ Federation and the Farmers’ Union should be called to protest against Government extravagance.
