MURDER IN GROCERY SHOP
ACCUSED SENTENCED TO DEATH. ' By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rcc. 8.30 p.m. Melbourne, Aug. 1. Arthur Skeritt, a"ed 45, was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of John Taylor, a grocer of Fitzroy. A fellow prisoner told the court that fkeritt has confided that he had killed Taylor. Skeritt’s defence was that this confession was a mere joke during a mock trial in the remand yard.
