WOMEN SEEK LEGISLATION
LIQUOR RESTRICTION AT DANCES. By Telegraph.--Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A deputation from the organised women’s social progress movement >vaitc<l on the Hon. J. G. Cobbe to ask for legislation in connection with the drinking of intoxicating liquors at cabarets and dance halls. Miss M. McClean said if cabarets and dance halls were clearly included in the definition of “restaurants” in the Sale of Liquor Restriction Act all would be plain. Evidence of drinking disturbances, and even deaths, had caused social workers to realise that there was urgent necessity for immediate action. -Other speakers added supporting remarks. Mr. Cobbe promised that the matter should have serious consideration.
