OPUNAKE HARBOUR

MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Opunake Harbour Board was held yesterday, when, there were present Messrs. T.- P. Hughson (chairman), 11. Young, 0.. A;-Trotter, J. A; Pettigrew and T. 11. H. Sinclair. - ' • The harbourmaster-secretary (Captain. G. Knowles) reported, that, during the month very heavy seas had: been experi-. enced, breaking over the mole on. to the wharf. -The concrete pile on;the wharf approach which, had .been .damaged and repaired on some previous.occasion, was', agaiirtcrtiekcd;’ and would require' atteri- • j tion. The new valuation .rolls for the! 1 county area had arrived and showed a 1 considerable increase on the: previous valuation. Fencing on ' the-, hoard’s re-1 serves required attention.- -•••■ ■ The.report was adopted. 1 ‘ A- | . It. was resolved that the matter of j leasing the sections referred to be left in the hands- of the reserves committee. | The reserves committee was also author- j ised to plant sand grass. The secretary of the Seaside Improve-’ ment Society asked for an inspection and revaluation of the property owing to the recent fire at the beach pavilion. The: recommendation of the finance commit-; tee that consideration be deferred until if is ascertained whether the pavilion is’ to be rebuilt, was adopted. •
