WORK OF FITZROY SCHOOL
REPORTS TO MONTHLY MEETING. The .'Fitzroy school committee held its monthly meeting -on Wednesday. Present, Mr. J. A. Burr (chairman), Messrs. L. F. Foote, J. K. Hawkins, A. S. Hunter, R. J. Kibby and S. J. ’'Quickfall. Messrs. G. A. Lyall (headmaster) and E. Armitage (secretary) also attended. The scoutmasters’ reports were received. The Commissioner will be invited to attend the next meeting of the committee to discuss scout business. Visiting committees were appointed as follows: —August 4, Messrs. Burr and Kibby; August 11, Messrs. Lyall and Quickfall; August 18, Messrs. Hawkins and Burr; August 25, Messrs. Armitage and Foote. The chairman reported on the success of acquiring an extension to the school site. A temporary class room would be available at an early* date. Letters of thanks will be sent to the Hon. S. G. Smith and. the Taranaki Education Board for the assistance given in securing the much-needed addition to the school site. The headmaster’s report stated that the average attendance for the month was 482.6. The roll number was 527. The boys of Form I. and 11. had made a start with the new garden plots in preparation for spring sowing. Miss Andrews had gone on leave, her place being taken by Miss Olsen.- The staff had made a presentation to Miss Andrews. Messrs: Hawkins and Quick fall were appointed visiting committee for August.
