£2,000,000 FOR SOCIAL WORK
AMERICAN’S GIFT TO BRITAIN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Ree. 8.55 p.m. London, July 24. Interest is taken in an announcement that Mr. Edward Harkness, an American railway magnate of Scottish d f.cent, is devoting a large sum to educational and social work in Great Britain, The sum is understood in Parliamentary circles to be at least £2.000,000. Mr. Stanley Baldwin possibly will be a member of the committee which will recommend outlets for the fund, but nothing is likely to be decided hastily.
