ACTIVITIES IN THE BACK-BLOCKS. ’ To consider the proposal from the Central Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New .Zealand to evangelise the backblocks. of. Taranaki, and. that, the Rev. Parry be released by his church for a week or 16 days each month, was the business of. a special meeting-of the Baptist Church on Wednesday evening. The Rev. F.- A. Parry presided over an attendance of .47. members of .the'church. The diacohate of the church submitted a resolution providing that the pastor be released for one week per month for six months, with a probable extension of -another six mouths if results warrant such a decision. The Central Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of NA.w Zealand is to provide £l2 10s. per month to be allocated as follows: £2 fyr church ear depreciation fund, £2 10s. for general church purposes; balance of £8 to be paid to Mr. Parry for testaments, travelling and other expenses, and remuneration for his services. The church will continue to pay the usual stipend. It was moved that the meeting adjourn for one week. to enable the proposals to be considered by . the membership and to enable the choir to have Its usual practice. An amendment that the business be proceeded with was allowed by the chairman and was carried on a division by 19 to 17. After discussion the proposal to release the pastor on the terms stated was carried on a secret ballot by 25 to 20. • • ..The matter; will ~be finally decided by the CentraLA.uxiliary, which meets in Wellington this'week. ; ,.y
