The total casualties at Cairo are five rioters killed and 120 injured; at Port Said one killed and 24 injured, also 40 police; at Suez 21 killed and 20 rioters and police injured. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Arthur Henderson, said in the British House of Commons that official information went to show that the situation was well in hand and the Egyptian Government had indicated there was- no need for special protective measures fqr foreigners. The British Government, Mr. Henderson added, was fully alive to the obligations of Britain, under the declaration of 1922 to ensure’the protection of foreign lives and interests in Egypt.
