FATE OF FAVOURITES
N.Z. GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLES. \ First favourites have had a. good innings in New Zealand’s premier crosscountry event, from 1900 to 1907 the public’s choice scoring one first, two seconds, two thirds, and being unplaced twice. From 1915 to 1929 the actual favourite has registered five firsts, one second and one third, and has been unplaced on eight occasions.
