ADDINGTON MARKET. FAT CATTLE VALUES INCREASE. EASIER PRICES FOR FAT SHEEP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last- Night. The principal feature of the weekly metropolitan market at Addington today was an advance in fat cattle values. The entry was a fairly heavy one and" included over 100 head of steers from they North Island. The early stage of the;auction saw values as much as £1 10si/a head above the previous week’s rates, while on an average over the whole .hale the increase was up to £1 a head for all classes. The fat lamb entry was very small, as is only to be expected at this season of the year, but those penned sold very firmly at late rates. The store sheep entry was also a small one and comprised in the main unattractive sorts. The basis of values ruling at recent sales was maintained. Ewes near to lambing were wanted and their sale was a good one. The sale for fat sheep was a steady one, although there was an easier tone in evidence throughout. Store Sheep. —A small entry, consisting in the main of unattractive sorts. The range of prices was: Ordinary ewe hoggets to 9s 6d; ordinary wether hoggets, 8s 7d to Ils Cd; good 2, 4 and 6-tooth crossbred ewes, 28s; good 2, 4 and C-tooth halfbred ewes, 22s 3d to 24s 3d; good s.m. half bred ewes, 13* to 14s 3d; aged ewes, 2s 3d to 7s (A; ordinary 6-tooth three-quarterbred wethers to 16s ■ ordinary 2-tooth halfbred wethers, 12s to 13s 3d.

Fat Lambs. —An entry of 274 head, which sold firmly at late ratefi. The top price was 33s 4d. Fat Sheep. —Au entry of 4700 head, as compared with 5200 head last week. The sale was a steady one throughout, but there was an easier tone apparent, especially in the eale of lighter sorts. Values* were.- Extra prime wethers, to 34s lOd; prime wethers, 26s to 295; medium wethers, 22s to 255; light wethers, 17s to 21s; maiden ewes, to 30s Id;' extra prime ewes, to 24s Id; prime ewes. 19s to 21s Cd; medium ewes, 15s to 18s; light ewes, 12s .to 14s Gd; aged ewes,’ 9s to Ils Gd.

Fat Cattle.:—An entry of 420 head. Best "handy weight steer and heifer beef made from 39s 6d to 43s per 1001 b., and early in the sale a few pens made a little above that figure. Best heavyweight eteer beef realised., from 3fe to 38s Cd; medium quality from 33s to 35b Gd; best cow beef, to 38b; good cow beef, from. 33s to 365; secondary to 31b per 1001 b. Values were: Prime heavy steers, £l7 5« to £l9 12s Gd; prime medium weight steers, £l3 10s to £l7; medium quality steers, £lO 10s to £l3; light steers, £8 to £10; extra prime heifers, to £l6 17s Gd; prime heifers, £ll to £l3 10s; medium heifers, £S 10s to £lO 10s; light heifers, £G 10b to £8; extra prime cows to £l4’7s 6d; prime cows, £lO 10b to £l3; medium cows, £8 to £10;, light and aged, £5 10s to £7 10s. Vcalcrs—A medium entry, which met with a satisfactory sale at late rates. Values were: Best runners, to £7 13b Gd; medium runners, £4 10s to £6 10s; others, £2 10s to £4; good calves, to 50s ■ medium calves, 35s to 455; others, 4s 6d to 30s. Store Cattle—Small entries and prices remained, unchanged, except for good grazing sorts; : which met with keen competition and- showed a slight improvement. Generally the quality qf_ the yarding was very poor. Good fresh cows made up to £5 ss; 18 months to two-year-old steers to £5; yearling calves, to 355. Potting bulls were unattractive, the top price being £5. Dairy Cattle—The entry of dairy cattle 1 totalled 50 head, the quality orenerally being fairly good. Competition throughout was keen and prices showed a slight easing. Values were: Good second and third calvers, £l2 to £l3; medium second, and third, calvers, £9 to £11; backward and inferior, £4 to £8; good heifers, £ll to £l2 10s; medium, £8 to £10; others, £5 to £7. Fat Pigs.—There was a much larger yarding of porkers forward in the fat pig pens, totalling about 500 head. The market opened, with a firm demand, which was maintained throughout at prices slightly . lower than recent rates. Values were: Porkers, 48s Gd to 58s Gd; heavy porkers, £3 to £3lls6d; average price* per lb., fid to 9ld; choppers, £4 to £G Is; bacOners, £3 14x3 Gd to £4 IGs Gd; heavy<baconere, £4 18b Gd to £5 9.3 Gd; average price per lb., 71d to 81d. Store Pigs.—An extra largo yarding, all sorts being represented. Throughout the sale was brisk at late rates. Values were: Medium stores, 30s to 34s Gd; small stores, YGs to 295; Blips, 20s to 25s Gd; weanjjfs, 18s Gd. to 24s Gd; inferior weaners, 8s Gd to 14s Gd; sows in pig, £3 to £6 2b Gd. light £l2 to £l2 ss. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in slightly under average numbers and a strong demand existed. Late rates were fully maintained. Prime heavy cows and heifers realised £ll 17s Gd to £l2, medium £lO 10s to £ll 15s, lighter £lO to £lO 7s Gd„ light £8 10s to £9 10s, other cows £7 5s to £7 17s 6d. Extra choice ox sold to 40s per 1001 b., choice and prime 37s to 395, just killable 34s to 365, prime young cow and heifer 35s to 375, just killable 27s to 345. Sheep were yarded in average numbers. Competition for all well finished lines was good and they realised late rates. Second quality sheep were in poor demand and values were easier. Extra heavy prime wethers realised 30s Gd to 31s Gd, heavy prime 28s to 29s Gd, medium 27s to 27s 9d, light and unfinished 24s 3d to 265, light prime ewes 17s to 18s Gd, other ewes 12s fid to 15s 9d. Lambs were offered in usual numbers and sold at late rates. Heavy prime lambs brought 22s fid, medium 21s Gd, light 19s Gd to 21s. A keen demand existed for calves, and values generally were better than last week. Runners made £5 5s to £6 15s, heavy veaiers £-1 10s to £5 ss, medium £3 10s to M ss, light £2 5s to £3 ss, small 20s to £2 2s. Pigs were yarded in fair numbers and sold at barely late rates for baconers. Porkers were firm on last week’s rates. Heavy baconers made £3 5s to £3 9s, heavy porkers £2 12s to £2 17s, medium and light baconers £2 10s to £3 3s, medium and light porkers £2 2s to £2 10s. LIVE STOCK SALES. KKEN DEMAND FOR'OX BEEF. Hamilton, July 22. An average yarding of cow and ox beef was penned at the weekly stock sales at ’the Frankton yards to-day. The quality was much better than that which came forward the previous week and a keen demand was maintained for ox beef. A smaller yarding of poorer quality fat and store sheep was offered, and prices showed a slight decrease. A medium entry of pigs sold at increased prices, but a large yarding of stores and weaners were in poorer demand, although good values were maintained. Quotations;

HIDE AND SKIN SALES. MARKET AGAIN EASIER. A decrease in the prices for hides and skins was again shown at the fortnightly auction conducted.. at Auckland on Tuesday. Skins were about id to a pound, easier and hides about id to 3-Bd. per lb easier. The decline is attributed to the weak ’ state of the overseas markets, although there-iwas good
