Cardinal Bourne conducted a to deum at Westminster Cathedral to-day on the occasion of the centenary, of Belgian independence. King George was represented by Lord Granard, Belgian Ambassador, and his staff. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald to-day sent the Belgian Prime Minister the following telegram: “On the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the independence of Belgium I send Your Excellency a message of friendly goodwill on behalf of His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom. The people of this country, who have shared Belgium’s sorrows, wish also to share in her joys, and I am confident that I interpret the feelings of all classes of the British public when I beg Your Excellency to accept our heartiest good wishes for the continued happiness and prosperity of your great- country.”
