BIG MAJORITY IN SENATE ONE RESERVATION ADOPTED By TMocrraph—Pre«s Aasn.- Copyright. Washington, July 21. The Senate oil Monday ratified the London Naval Treaty. It had previously adopted the Norris reservation stipulating that no approval be given by ratification to any secret agreement or understanding which may exist in relation to the Pact.
A reservation by Senator Johnson to permit the United States to construct either eight or six-inch cruisers, regardless of limitations in the treaty, was rejected by 57 to 8. The ratification vote was 58 to fl. A two-thirds vote was necessary. The vote came suddenly after more than a dozen reservations by opponents had been rejected heavily.
