SYDNEY FRAUD ALLEGATIONS
BUSINESS MEN SENT FOR TRIAL. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 9.25 p.m. Sydney. July 17. Five well-known commercial men associated with the Australian Federal Life and General Insurance Company, Limited, on charges of conspiracy and fraud, were to-day committed for trial in August. Bail of £250 was allowed in each ease. The men were arrested after a sensational raid by the detectives on.Apiil 25. The defendants are Albert Smith, aged 45, broker; James Cochrane, aged 42, accountant; Vivian Partridge, aged 38, managing director; Ralph Paul, aged 3 , secretary; and Harry Roach, aged 39, accountant. The Crown Prosecutor described the alleged fraud as one of the worst ever perpetrated in the history ot New South Wales.
