FEDERAL BUDGET SEQUEL
SUGGESTION IN AUSTRALIA ECONOMIC ADVISORY COUNCIL OPPOSITION MAKES MOVE By Telegraph—Frees Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.10 p.m. Melbourne, July 17. Out of the chorus of protest against the crushing Federal Budget, a movement is crystallising for the formation of a strong economic council to help advise the Ministry. This council will consist of representatives of primary producers, financiers, manufacturers and retailers from all States, and will furnish helpful suggestions in the present crisis. The Opposition has made its first definite move against the Budget proposals. Mr. Latham, the leader, announced that he intends to move for a reconsideration of the estimates for the purpose of reducing expenditure by about £4,000,000, including the salaries of Ministers and members.
