MARKETS IN NEW PLYMOUTH. PRICES FOR DAIRY FARM PRODUCE. Prices for dairy farm produce ruling in New Plymouth this week were:—• Buying. Selling.

LIVE STOCK SALES. DUNEDIN MARKET FIRM. Dunedin, July IG. Fat sheep met with a keen sale at Burnside to-day, and most classes sold at higher rates. Fat cattle shewed little improvement in price, while lambs remained firm at late rates. There was more activity in the pig section, and baconers and porkers sold at advanced rates.

There was an entry of 217 head of fat cattle, comprising fair to good quality, with a sprinkling of prime bullocks and numbers of medium steers and well-, finished heifers. The market opened at prices on a par with late rates, but became slightly weaker as the sale progressed. Prime heavy bullocks sold at up to £2l, medium £lB 15s, light £l6 10s; heavy heifers £l3 15s, medium £ll 15s, light £lO 10s; heavy cows £l4, medium £ll ss, light £9 10s. Prime ox beef sold on a basis of about 41s per 1001 b.

The sheep entry totalled 1307 head, and consisted of very mixed quality. There were a few extra heavy sorts, a small supply of" good fine wool wethers, and a large proportion of fair to prime ewes. There was a good demand for butchers’ wethers, which sold at an advance of about Is a head, while good ewes improved from Is 6d to 2s 6d a head. Mixed sheep were firm to a shade better. Prime heavy wethers sold at up to 45s 9dj prime heavy ewes 31s 6d, There was an entry of 471 lambs of mixed quality, with a few prime sorts. The sale was a very satisfactory one. Prime lambs sold at up to 26s 6d, medium 19s Gd, unfinished sorts IBs. The store cattle entry was smaller than usual, only 50 bead being offered. The yarding consisted of medium cows and steers. There was a fairly good demand at prices which showed no change. Three-year-old steers sold at up to £lO 7s fid, yearlings £5, cows £6 I Os. The pig entry comprised 54 fats and 24 stores. Competition was keen, and baconers and porkers sold at an advance of fully 7s 6d a head. Store pigs also sold well, at an advance of about 5s a head. JOHNSONVILLE VALUES.

An average yarding of sheep and cattle was offered to a small attendance at Johnsonville on Wednesday. The bullocks yarded included chiefly heavyweight cattle, with a few pens of light and unfinished. Bidding was not keen, and .prices realised showed a decline of 10s per head on heavy bullocks, other sorts being on a par with last week’s rates. The sheep yarded comprised mostly heavyweight wethers, with a few pens of medium weights, and sold at prices equal to late rates. Ewes met with a dull sale, competition being very slack, with prices back at least 2s per head for heavy weights and Is to Is 6d for medium weights. The lambs yarded were of good quality, but competition was not keen, prices showing a decline of at least 2s on late rates. PRICES AT WESTFIELD. Auckland, July 16. At the Westfield fat stock market today ox beef was offered in lesser numbers than last week. The quality was first-class, and sold under strong demand. A sharp rise in values was recorded. Prime heavy bullocks realised £l5 2s 6d to £l6, medium prime £l4 to £l5, light prime £l2 17s 6d to £l3 17s 6d, light and unfinished £l2 2s 6d to £l2 15s. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in lesser numbers than usual, and strong competition resulted in the previous week’s values being exceeded. Prime heavy young cows and heifers realised £lO 5s to £ll 10s, medium prime £9 10s to £lO, lighter £8 5s to £9 ss, light £7 10s* to £B, other killable cows £6 5s to £7 ss. Extra choice ox beef sold to 40s per 1001 b, choice and prime 37s to 395, just killable 33s to 365, prime young cow and heifer 35s to 375, just killable, 33s to 365. Sheep were yarded in about the usual steady numbers, and values were quite on a par with late rates. Extra heavy prime wethers brought 29s to 30s Gd, heavy prime 28s 3d to 28s 9d, medium 26s 6d to 28s, light and unfinished 23s to 255; heavy prime ewes 22s 6d to 235, lighter 20s 9<l, other ewes 14s 9d to 16s 6d. Lambs were yarded in small numbers, and values were very firm at late rates. Medium prime made 20s 6d, light 18s Gd. Calves sold very freely at fully late rates, especially those showing quality. Heavy voalers realised £4 10s to £5 ss, medium £3 15s to £4 ss, light £2 5s to £3 10s, small 14s to £1 15s. Pics met with a weaker market than last week, and suffered a drop in values, heavy porkers being affected most. Heavy baconers sold at £3 6s to £3 10s h'oavy porkers £2 9s to £2 13s, medium £3 to £3 ss, medium and light £2 14s to £2 18s, light £2 to £2 Ss. PEDIGREE JERSEY SALE. HCI.FER MAKES 210 GUINEAS.
