HERD-TESTING MEETINGS

TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Eltham and Eltham-Mangatoki groups of the Taranaki Co-operative Herd Testing Association was held at the Eltham Dairy Company's office on Wednesday. Present: Messrs T. E. Trask (chairman), B. Clements, L. Nairn, J. .Cocker, .C. Ricketts, R. .Edwards, V. Nairn, L. Bigham; S. Nairn, C. Pennington, C. White, T. Lee, D, Treeweek, W- Treewcek, B. Spray, J. Mickelson, J. P. Gibson, W. Gardiner, W. Salmon and C. Watchorn, Mr. G; H. Bell (chairman of the association), Mr. Hugh Baily (secretary), and Mr. Nicholson (representing the South Taranaki Association). Mr. Bell gave a very full address on the operations of the association during the past year and on the proceedings of the Group-Herd Testing Federation for the Dominion. After questions had been asked and answered the meeting proceeded with the election of the committee for the group, Mr. Trask being again appointed ehairman and the following being appointed to the committee: Messrs W. Clement, B. Clement, J, P. Gibson, H. Jordan, V. Nairn and L. Bigham. The question of delimitation of the. boundaries between the Taranaki and the South Taranaki Association was discussed and it was decided that the chairman and the secretary of the association, with Mr. Trask, meet the committee of the South laranaki Association. A hearty vote of thanks was accord-, ed the chairman and secretary .for their attendance and a further vote of. thanks to the Eltham Dairy Company, Limited, for the use of offices for the past two or three years for group meetings. TOKO GROUP’S MEETING. The annual meeting of the Toko group was held in the Toko Hall on Tuesday evening, Mr. H. J. Kaye presiding over an attendance of about 20 members. The chairman and secretary of tn© association attended. Mr. Bell gave an address on the work of the association and the Group Herd Testing Federation, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The work of organising the group was stated to be well under way, and the new committee comprises Messrs W. Rumball (chairman), Clemow, J. Jones, Laurence and T. Murray. Mr. Murray lias been appointed secretary. The chairman announced that the testing charges for the coming season 'had been reduced for herds under 50 cows, except in the ease of those under the alternate system. The charges would be: Herd fee, £2 10s per herd, plus 4s per cow, up to 50 cows, and 3s per cow over 50; alternate system, herd fee, £2 10b, plus 3s per Cow.
