PREFERENCE FOR DOMINION
FRUIT ON ENGLISH MARKET. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The view that foreign fruit should be kept off the English market while New Zealand fruit was in the country was expressed at the Fruitgrowers’ Conference to-day, when it was suggested that representations should be made to the Prime Minister to bring (he matter before the Imperial Conference. T The subject was introduced by Mr. J. H. Brunt (Nelson), who suggested that the restriction should obtain in the months oi April, May, June and July. Tho president (Mr. T. C. Brash) said there was a growing tendency in favour of protecting the portions of Em^ e which were trading with the Old Country. It was probable that the. proposal, instead of any preferential tariff, would meet the position. . . The conference was unanimous in tne view as p it forward by Mr. Brunt.
