A “NOVELTY” DISH.
FILLED BREAD COBS. Ingredients; For the outside*?.: six round bread cobs, milk as required, 1 egg, toasted breadcrumbs, For the filling: about Jib minced meat, 1 large onion, a little soaked bread, 1 egg. parsley, salt and pepper. Grate off some of .the hard outer crusts of the cobs; cut a lid off each and scoop out most of the crumb, keeping the eases unbroken. Dip them in milk and turn them over to drain. Coat them with the beaten egg, then with the breadcrumbs, and fry them in hot fat till lightly browned. Meanwhile prepa’re the filling: Slice the onion and fry it for a minute; add the minced meat and fry together. Remove from the stove, mix in the soaked bread, the egg, chopped parsley, salt and pepper. Fill the fried bread cases with the meat mixture, place a sprig of parsely on top of each, neat up in the oven, and serve at once with sauce or gravy.
