CONFERENCE AT PALMERSTON N. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The Friesian Cattle Breeders’ Association to-day elected the following officers: President, Major R. A. Wilson (Bulls); vice-presidents, Messrs. E. M. North (Omimi), H. E. Johnson (Tokaora).; to the council,, Messrs, E. M, North (Omimi), D. E. McGowan (Auckland), H. E. Johnson (Tokaora), O. A. Cadwallader (Greytown); treasurer, Mr. D. J. McGowan. The sum of £5O was allotted as special prize money for. the provincial group competition at the Royal Show, and it was decided to pay 75 per cent, of the transit expenses of pedigree Friesians competing at the Royal Show. The North Island championships were allotted to the Franklin A. and P. Association and the South Island championships to the Southland A, and P. Association. The sum of £O5 was allocated io the 1930 Derby competition. To give protection to new and . inexperienced breeders so that they might make purchases calculated to ensure a reasonable chance of success the council was asked to enlarge the present rules rules governing the conduct oi auction sales. The meeting approved of the suggestion that the time had arrived when the association should cease to accept for the herd book-any and every calf that happened to be born of. purebred parents, and the council was instructed to draw up for consideration at the next meeting, a scale of points for classifying bulls and cow’s according to type as well as on butter-fat production.
