Essex.—Middlesex, in the first innings, made 264 (Newman, not out 110), and in the second 242 (Heaine 93). Essex in the first innings made 420 (O’Connor 104, Russell 102), and m the second lost one wicket for 90. Essex won by nine wickets. Derbyshire v. Northamptonshire.— Derbyshire in the first innings made 21 (Clark took five wickets for 68), and in the second 123 (Matthews took four wickets for 27). Nothants in the first innings made 93 (Mitchell six wickets f '- 28) and in the second 173. Derby won by 71 runs. Gloucestershire v. Kent. —Gloucester m the first innings made 198 (Freeman took six wickets for 97, and in the second 245 (Dacre 51; Freeman took eight wickets for 107). Kent in the first innincrg made 170 (Parker took six wickets for 74), and in the second 156 (Parker took six wickets for 28). Gloucester won by 117 runs. Leicestershire v. Surrey. —Leicester in the first innings made 275 (Armstrong 147; Allom took four wickets for 54) and in the second 99 (Gregory, took five wickets for 34). Surrey in the first
