SUCCESS OF SHOW WEEK
RECORD FOR MEW PLYMOUTH. After a record show week, the New Plymouth winter show of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was closed on Friday evening. There was a very large attendance on the last day. The four days’ receipts amounted to £561 14s Gd, a record sum. At tho 1929 show the takings were £548 8s 9d. Early on Friday the giant birthday cake was completely sold, bringing in fe242 10s. This showed that, altogether, 4850 slices had been sold. An obedience test for Alsatians was held on Friday afternoon, tho competition being won by Mr. W. T. Petersen’s Luck of Vindabona.
In\every way the show has been a remarkable success this year. The fact that the gate takings show an increase in spite of the 200 increase in membership will be an encouragement tp. the society to make an early hfbvfe* iiifthg matter of .providing; extra hall 'ipace. '
