SERIOUS RACING CRASHES
JOCKEYS' GRAVELY INJURED. SENSATIONS IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, June 12. Of six horses which fell, two were killed and two jockeys were seriously injured in the hurdle and steeple races at Mentone. At the first jump in the hurdle race, Moorna Lad crashed, breaking its neck, and Jockey Townsend’s skull was fractured. . Homerus came down over Moorna Lad and had to be destroyed. Its rider, Sinks, injured his wrists. In the steeplechase Tabralong fell at the second fence and brought down Sir Saton. Trounson, 'the rider of Tobralong, had the base of his skull fractured, while Mclnncs had an amazing escape when his mount, Quintain, fell. The horse struck him a terrible blow on the head, but his skull cap saved him. Tho condition of Townsend and Trounson ,is critical, '
