These represent a saving to th® producers of £85,000 per annum. The New Zealand Meat Producers* Board and the New Zealand■ Dairy Produce Board, which have' been negotiat-. ing with, the shipping companies in London in connection with shipping freight rates on frozen meat and dairy produce, have now accepted a .new' contract, at a reduction of a further 2% per cent., which brings' the rates down to 15 per cent, off the rates obtaining in respect to both meat and dairy produce for the 1924-25 season. '.
' The period of the contract is three years, and the 2J- ■ per cent, reduction > now obtained represents a further saving to the meat-producers* of the Dominion of about £50,000 in the season,' and to the dairy producers of about £35,- . 000 in the season.
The new contract will take effect on . September I, 1930.- The new freight rates for dairy produce and frozen meat will- therefore be as follows, being 15 * per cent., off the 1924-25 rates: -But- • ter, per box, 4s, less 15 per cent.; cheese, per lb, 7-Bd, less 15 per cent.; mutton, per lb, 1 3-3? d, less 15 per cent.; lamb, per lb, 1 9-32 d, less 15 per cent.; mutton, per lb, 1 3-32 d, less 15 per cent.: 1 beef, per lb, 7-Bd, less 15 pei' cent.; pork, per lb, 5-Bd, less 15 per cent.; veal, • per lb, 7-Bd, less 15 per cent.; frozen sundries, per lb, fd, less 15 per cent.; mutton and lamb pieces, 1 l-Bd, less 15 per cent.
