DYING MAN’S MESSAGE
SUICIDE INSPIRED BY FEAR. By Telcgrauh.—Press Association. Auckland, June 12. “He feared the charge you were in* qriring into. It was suicide by gas poisoning.” This was the verdict of the Coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, at. an inquest held this afternoon on William Patrick Lennox, aged 47, of Takapuna, who was found dead in the kitchen of his home on June 1. ' ; Robert Shaw, a neighbour of Lennox, said that ,in view of a complaint made by his wife about Lennox he went tq Lennox’s house on the afternoon ■'of May 31; The blinds were pulled dowii and the house locked up. There was a smell of gas about the place. • ? v " Following a complaint, Detective Allsop and Constable Woods - went to Lennox’s house, about midday on June 1. They found the place locked up. When they forced their way in they found Lennox, dead. An envelope was fmind with “Not guilty” scrawled over. it. Lennox had been living alone, and his wife was in Dunedin.
