Reports are current in the north that a strike ie looming in the coal mining industry, but officials at Wellington in touch with both the employers and the workers give an emphatic denial to any suggestion that an upheaval is imminent. Neither has the Labour Department or the Mines Department received any information that would give rise to such a story.
“The whole "thing is absurd and has not a substance of truth in it.” a man associated with the Miners’ Federation said to-night when the report was referred to him.
Another .man who has taken a prominent part in the cause of the miners was equally as emphatic. “The miners ar not looking for trouble,” he declared.
