THE GOVERNOR'S EXAMPLE
NEW ZEALAND CLOTHING. PATRONAGE OF E.U. DECLINED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe visited the Girls’ College and the Sacred Heart Convent this afternoon and later were the guests of the Farmers’ Union at afternoon tea. Concerning a request to accept the patronship of the Farmers’ Union His Excellency explained why he could not accept that office. He pointed out that the Farmers’ Union might have occasion to fight the Government of the dayj it might be the union’s duty to do so. It would then have to withdraw or he would have to resign office. His Excellency has set an example by wearing New Zealand made clothes, even to boots and tie. The frock worn by Her Excellency to-day was also manufactured, in INew Zealand from wool grown In the Dominion. His Excellency has stressed the advisability of New Zealanders following this example.
