GIRLS’ FRIENDLY SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the New Ply ■ mouth Girls’ Friendly Society was held in the- lodge on Tuesday. Present: Mrs. Newman (in the chair), Mesdames Martin, Shoemhrk, Dinniss, the treasurer, matron and secretary. The secretary reported receiving notice from the electric light department as to the re-wiring of the lodge. The appointment of a second representative on tho National Council of Women’s branch in New Plymouth was left till next meeting. The diocesan secretary of the Wellington Girls’ Friendly Society wrote saying Her Excellency, Lady Bledisloe. had consented to be patroness of the society in the Dominion. WAVERLEY LEGION DANCE. The annual dance of the Legion of Frontiersmen was held on Friday in the town hall, Waverley. The hall, vvhicn was decorated by Mrs. Tennant and party, was extremely attractive and the stage represented a delightfdl fernery, with large bowls of hydrangeas here and there. The music, which was supplied by Coburn’s orchestra, enticed everyone to dance. Mrs. Boyne with a party of helpers carried out the arrangements for the supper, which was all that could be desired. Among those present were: Mrs. Alexander (black silk), Mrs. Higginbothan (flame ring velvet), Mrs. Tennant (frock of green), Mrs. Neilson (blue velvet) Mrs. Percival (black silk), Airs.
