PIPE BAND BENEFIT

NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIAL EVENING. The New Plymouth Caledonial Society Pipe Band on Monday held a social and dance for the benefit of one of its members, and the gathering at the Ngamotu Palladium on Monday was largely attended. Miss McDonald sang "My Ain Folk” and “All For the Sake of Somebody,” and Mr. Williamson recited “The Kaiser’s Dream” and "A Wee Doch and Doris” as an encore. Exhibitions of dancing in Highland costume were given by four young ladies The music for the dancers was provided by Mrs. Thomson (pianoforte) and Mr. Mouat (violin). Messrs. D. Dobbin and J. Erskine were Masters of Ceremonies. A fruit cake donated by Mr. Aldie and a box of chocolates donated by Mrs. Giles were won by Mr. Seale, of the s.s. Mahana, and Miss Marjorie Carr, respectively.
