ASSASSINATION AT LISBON
GERMAN AMBASSADOR SHOT .. f POLICE ARREST COMPATRIOT TELEGRAMS FROM MOSCOW, By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Lisbon, June 7. While Herr Albert von Qaligand, German Ambassador to Portugal, was visiting the cruiser Konigsberg, a German several times shot him with a revolver, as the result of which Herr Galigand died. The police arrested Franz Peehowsky, aged 39, of Danzig. He is believed to b<> insane. He denied communication with Moscow, despite the fact 'that incriminating telegrams were found in his pocket. Ho was charged in 1927 with forging passports, and he now declares the assassination was actuated by a desire for revenge on a' British, German or American diplomat, those countries being responsible for Ms persecution.’ -
