HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING
PREPARATIONS FOR BIG MATCH. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.20 p.m. New York, June 7While Sharkey and Schmeling have entered £he stage of training where experts are at odds concerning their condition, the best evidence seems to be that both men are fit and correctly tapering off their work. There.is some talk that the German, who will probably weigh 13st. 41b., will be at a disadvantage owing to the fact that Sharkey will most likely scale at 14st., but Schmeling impresses the .medical men who have examined him as being extremely vigorous. Schmeling sparred seven rounds today, and will reduce the daily schedule by' one round until Wednesday,’ when he will be idle. He has been playing a great deal of golf, and opinion is ' divided as to the effect of it on his condition. Sharkey’s glove work is confined to five rounds daily, and he obviously is restraining himself. -He too will quit all work on Wednesday. BANTAM CHAMPION BEATEN. Rec. 7.20 p.m. Melbourne, June 8.
