STATUE OF MARSHAL FOCH
PRINCE OF WALES PAYS TRIBUTE. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, June 5. The unveiling of ihe statue of Marshal Foch in Grosvenor Gardens took place to-day. The Prince of Wales paid an impressive tribute to the great soldier. “Marshal Foch may rightly be regarded as the greatest military teacher of his time,” said the Prince, “yet to the end, as he himself said, he never ceased to be a learner. He was one of those to whom the work of to-day, however unimportant, is -chiefly valuable as a preparation for the work. of. toonorrow. The unveiling was. a simple ceremony. The Prince, in the uniform of the Welsh Guards, walked to where Madame Foeh and her two daughters sat, shook hands with 'them and talked for a moment. His Royal Highness then pulled a cord and two flags, the Tricolour and the Union Jack, fell apart disclosing ft bronze statue of Marshal Foeh. The Last Post was sounded while-the Prince stood at attention. The Duke of Connaught, a veteran soldier, was present! together with two men who took a great part in the war, Mr. David Lloyd George and Earl Jellicoe.
