CLOSER SETTLEMENT LANDS
MANAWATU SECTTONS SOLD. • By Telegraph.—Press’ Association. Palmerston N., Juno 0. An important subdivisional land sale was held yesterday afternoon, realising a total of £24,(501. Eleven sections of an aggregate of 591 acres in the Opiki block, owned by Mr. Hugh Akers, were sold. The land is rich arable Manawatu River deposit, 1 miles from Palmerston North and four miles from the Rangiotu and Tokomaru . Twenty lots varying from 36 to 10'2 acres were offered and 11 sold, the prices varying from £4O to £54 per acre, The land is of heavy carrying capacity, both sheep and cattle having been farmed and grazed for forty years. It is one of four large holdings left in the district for close settlement.
