ONE-MAN FARMS WANTED
LAND MARKET BRIGHTER FINANCE PRESENTS DIFFICULTY/ PROPERTY VALUES REMAIN HIGH, (By Wire.—Special to News). Auckland, Last Night. An improved demand has been shown recently for farming properties of . the one-man type, and a. number of inquiries has been received by-agents from prospective purchasers.. There is generally movement in farm properties at this time of the year owing to. it being the off season as far as milking is concern-; ed. As a rule there is pronounced activity in the market until the. sea- . son opens again in the spring. “Undoubtedly there is definite demand for small farms, but the difficulty lies in the purchaser finding sufficient I capital to establish himself,” said a leading agent. An outlay of from £6OO to- £lOOO was necessary for small Jarms. The low prices received for farm produce had had the effect of reducing prices for stock, but values for land in the vicinity of the city still remained at a high level. The agent did not consider values for *** land would fall unless produce prices showed a further decline. It had .to bo remembered that farmers 60 miles from the city had facilities practically equal to those in the environs fordespatching their cream to the factories.. There did not appear to be a great demand for farms on which to milk for town supply, and many suburban hold-, ers had turned over to supplying .creamy i to the factory. It was stated that during the past . few years there had been little demandfor sheep farms, this being duo mainly: ; ' to, the fact -that there' were few men, } prepared- to make - a!h. 'outlay o^’between£2ooo and £3OOO. ■ '. i : ■!
