NEGRO GRAVELY INJURED
FRACAS GN SHIP AT AUCKLAND. THREE WHITE MEN ARRESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A serious affray occurred on the steamer Quercus to-night as a result of which a Negro, Edward Seldon, married, aged 32, was taken to hospital with severe-' head injuries. His condition is fairly serious. Later three European members of the crew were arrested on a charge of assault with intent to do actual bodily liar in.
It is understood the melee occurred as a result of a dispute between the white section of the crew and the injured man.
