GIFT BOOK FROM THE QUEEN
TURNBULL LIBRARY HONOURED.

The Governor-General has recently received from Her Majesty the Queen for presentation on Her Majesty s behalf to a library at the capital city, to be selected by His Excellency, a copy of the Book of the Queen’s Dolls House, which is generally acknowledge to be the most remarkable dolls’ house in the world. The book is in two volumes, volume 1 by A. C. Benson and Sir Lawrence Weaver, volume 2 by E. V. Lucas, and contains Her Majesty’s autograph. In a letter accompanying this book it is stated: “The Queen cannot help thinking thait this illustrated record of the building and furnishing of the dolls house will be of interest Her Majesty hopes that the story told in its pages may give pleasure to young and old of the present and future generations. After consulting representative authorities His Excellency decided to give effect to Her Majesty’s gracious and kindly thought by depositing the book at the Alexander Turnbull kibiary, Bowen Street. Wellington and the two volumes are now on Hie shelves ol that library. s ; ;
