LABOUR LEADER’S CAMPAIGN
VIEWS ON PARNELL ELECTION.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Whangarei, May 10
Mr. H. Ei Holland, Labour leader, opened his Dominion campaign last night, when he addressed an audience of 120 and had an excellent h iring.
Discussing the result of the Parnell election, he said: "Nobody has -anything to write home about,- but Labour lias the ' satisfaction of- knowing that it alone gained ground.” ’He' justified Labour’s action in putting the United Party into power, saying that'the result of the general election was' a clear indication that the electors were tired of the Reform Government and that the next largest party should be given an opportunity to fulfil its promises. Mr. Holland was disappointed that the United Party had not grappled with unempleyment in the proper way. He said he could not' prophesy what would take place in the coming session. Parliament might run its normal course, or an election might come at the end of this or the beginning of next year.
