At Rome De Morpurgo and Gaslini (Italy) beat Zahar and Riches (Egypt), '= 5 —7, B—6,8 —6, G—l, 3 —6, 7 —5. Italy thus qualifies to meet Norway or Austria in the third round.
Stefani (Italy) beat Grandguillot (Egypt) 6—2, 6—l, 6—2; and Oe Morpurgo (Italy) beat Wahid (Egypt) 6—l, 6—4, 6—2.
