The Rata left .Westport last evening for New Plymouth, and is due to-day. She sails to-day or to-morrow. (Cock and Co.) The Progress is due at Wellington today, and proceeds to Dunedin, where she loads on. May 12 via Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington for New Plymouth and Port Waikato. (Hooker Bros.) The Totara loaded at Lyttelton and arrived at New Plymouth yesterday. She proceeded to Tarakohe. She returns with 150 tons on Sunday. The Kamona, with 700 tons of railway coal, left Greymouth on Monday, proceeding to New Plymouth, where she arrived to-day. She sails later for Napier. (U.S.S. Co.) The Himatangi, from Lyttelton, Wellington and Wanganui, is due at New Plymouth to-morrow. The Opihi loaded at Dunedin yesterday and via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Nelson is due at New Plymouth about May 15. Later she proceeds to Westport. (U.S.S.. Co.) The Hauturu, on her second trip to New Plymouth in the new Onehunga service, arrived at New Plymouth early yesterday morning with cargo, and left for Onehunga last evening. ANTONIO DUE TO-DAY. The Antonio, which left Ocean Island on April 27 with a cargo of phosphates for discharge at New Plymouth and Wanganui, is due at New Plymouth this evening to discharge 4000 tons. HORORATA REPORTED. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hororata will reach Suva from London on Saturday, according to her wireless advice. The vessel has a general merchandise cargo for discharge at. Suva, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Bluff and New Plymouth. She is due at New Plymouth on June 2.

MAHENO FOR SYDNEY. The Union Company’s inter-colonial passenger steamer Maheno, which is due at Melbourne on Saturday from Bluff, will withdraw from the service on her arrival back at Wellington, for one trip, to enable her to undergo her annual overhaul and survey. The vessel is scheduled to leave Melbourne on Thursday, May 15, for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington, and is due at Wellington on May 23. She will leave again the next day for Dunedin for survey and overhaul. The Maheno will resume in the service from Bluff, leaving that port on Monday, June 16, for Melbourne, CHITRAL LIFTED 16 FEET. The utility of the new entrance lock over the old lock at Tilbury Docks was well illustrated on March 7, when the R.M.B. Chitral, 15,248 tons, was docked at low water, an achievement which could not have been accomplished with the old entrance. The operation involved admitting 1,760,000 cubic feet, or 50,000 tons, of water through the sluice from.the river in order to lift the 16 feet to the dock water level. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
