EGG-LAYING COMPETITION

RESULTS FOR FIFTH WEEK.

The official report for the week ending May 7 (sth week), is:—

FUNERAL OF MRS. O’DONNELL. The funeral of Mrs. Anne O’Donnell, who died at Hawera on Monday, took place at the Manaia Cemetery yesterday. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Hawera, at 7.30 in the morning by the Very Rey. P. F. Cullen. Archbishop O’Shea was present. About 40 cars comprised the cortege, which was a representative one testifying to the high esteem in which Mrs. O’Donnell was held. There were a large number of floral tributes from .all parts of South Taranaki. The services at the church at Hawera and at the graveside were conducted by Father Cullen assisted by Father Vibeand and bather Dynan, Messrs T. and J. O’Donnell, Ferguson and Smith, Mesdames Ferguson and Tonks, and Miss Mary O’Dcnnell. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. O’Sullivan, A. Mitchell, G. Barr-Brown, A. James, W. Duggan and J. A. G. Cosgrave.

DONOVAN-GRIME CONTEST.

Tommy Donovan hae been matched by the Hawera Boxing Association with Billy Grime, ex-triple champion of Australia, the contest to take place at Hawera on June fl.

The contest was originally scheduled to take place on May 10, but owing to an . injury sustained by Grime when training at Hawera it had to be postponed.’. The first meeting of the pair took place at Hawera on April 24, Donovan winning on a foul in the eleventh round.
